The Portage Collegiate Institute had begun fielding a football team again after a long absence from the high school league. After a few seasons they realized that a new logo was in order to make the merchandise and uniforms more appealing.
The initial logo design was a pro bono project (as it was my old high school) to help get the team up on its feet with merchandise sales. Existing sports logos were researched carefully and it seemed that the more successful ones (for merchandise sales) included a character.
A stylized and stoic roman soldier was created with a simple colour scheme. A complementary, sports-oriented type solution was created as well to flesh out the graphic for certain applications.
